Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies!
The directions for baking class chocolate chip cookies are as follows: beat 2 sticks butter, 3/4 cup dark brown sugar and 3/4 cup granulated sugar until fluffy; beat in 1 teaspoon vanilla and 2 eggs. Whisk 2 1/2 cups flour, 3/4 teaspoon baking soda and 1 teaspoon salt, then stir into the butter mixture. Add 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips and chill 30 minutes. Roll into balls and bake 8 to 12 minutes at 350 degrees.
I choose the classic chocolate chip recipe not only because it is my favorite kind of cookie, but I also think it is truly a classic today in America. However, in present day, the American culture has become so fast pace that people want the same excellent quality in their food, but in the fastest time possible. In Food Inc. that was one of the main points, people enjoy fast food because it is simply that - fast. American culture today is so hypnotized by the fast food industry that they do not understand what exactly they are consuming. It is the same with pre-made food that has been frozen at the grocery store. Consumers still love deserts, including the classic chocolate chip cookie; however these new, quicker products have made it so it doesn't take that full hour to get these delicious cookies at home. Now you can buy "break and bake" cookies in almost any super market (which is similar to the Fast Food Nation). The "break and bake" cookies are technically artificial to consumers, but they are just as good as the real thing, and we continuing buying them. People in our culture like the idea of skipping the more difficult steps, popping the pre-made cookies into their ovens at home, and about t 15 minutes later, having 24 perfect cookies there for their own personal happiness. The chocolate chip cookie will always remain an American favorite, but the process of how we are getting the food to our homes and on our tables are becoming easier, less healthy, and still we feed into this frenzy.
